Take this chance to virtually visit the 154 years old distillery, with a tour led by Ms. Hamahata and the on-site shochu craftsmen will explain and demonstrate you the steps needed to produce a great shochu that is enjoyed by generations in Japan. The program will end with a guided tasting together with the rest of the participants over zoom.

Hamada Syuzou

Hamada Syuzou, founded in 1868 in IchikiKushikino City of Kagoshima Prefecture by the Hamada Family is currently managed by its 5th generation and operates 3 distilleries - "Denbeegura", its first distillery founded in the first year of the Meiji era focusing on the traditional flavours of Honkaku Shochu, "Denzouingura", an innovative distillery focusing on the evolution and new potential styles of Honkaku Shochu and "Kinzangura", a traditional distillery that strives to retain the Satsuma spirit and very uniquely located in a 120 km long (gold) mine roadway surrounded by mountains.

“Daiyame” Shochu

Tasting Set includes a bottle of "Daiyame" Shochu 900ml, 25% alcohol

"Daiyame" is a honkaku shochu (single-distilled shochu) made from sweet potato, originating from Hamada Syuzou Distillery Kagoshima. In 2019, it has won the top prize in the Shochu Distilled spirits category at the 2019 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London. In 2020, it has won the double gold award in the shochu category at International Spirits Challenge (ISC). This shochu has a very aromatic shochu with the fragrance of fresh lychee. It offers sweet, fruity and mellow palate with a crispy aftertaste can equally be enjoyed with some sparkling water as a refreshing highball along with a meal that could range from richly flavored cuisine including your favourite pizza, fried chicken, tempura, and spicy food.
