Asia Society Hong Kong Center is delighted to host a talk with Hong Kong's record-breaking open water swimmer, Edie Hu, who last month became the fastest person in history to swim the ร˜resund Strait separating Denmark and Sweden.

Edie Hu is a highly accomplished open-water swimmer who has circumnavigated Hong Kong Island and Manhattan Island and swum across the English Channel, Catalina Channel, and the Gibraltar Strait. Edie is an ambassador for the sport in Hong Kong and an advocate for open water swimming in her journeys abroad, along the way inspiring non-athletes to take up sports for physical and mental health. Edie is also a Wellesley alumnus. While in university, she swam and played water polo for Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She is one of the founding coaches of the Splash Foundation, an organization that gives foreign domestic workers a chance and children to learn to swim for free.

Join ASHK to hear more from this inspiring athlete about her swimming adventures and her story of grit and resilience.

Judy Gee is a Taiwanese American, Hong Kong based artist and an amateur open water swimmer. She swam competitively from age 7 to her teen years in Taiwan. She has swam the HK360 on a relay team and was a support swimmer/support team mate for Edie's Catalina Channel swim. She is currently working on a series of oil paintings purely focused on Open Water Swimming in Hong Kong. Two paintings of Edie swimming the Catalina Channel are on view at www.studiojgee.com or on instagram @studiojgee for updated information.

S. Alice Mong is President of Asia Society Hong Kong Center (ASHK), an independent non-governmental educational organization established in 1990. Prior to ASHK, Ms. Mong worked in New York for almost a decade in the non-profit sector in senior management positions. She was the Director of the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) from 2009 to 2011, overseeing the expansion project of the 30-year-old organization. Ms. Mong also served as the Executive Director for the Committee of 100 in the United States, a Chinese-American non-profit membership organization founded by architect I.M. Pei and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. She serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of The Ohio State University Alumni Association.
