Yijing with Bernard Kwan

The Yijing or Book of Changes, besides being a tool for divination, is one of the foundational texts of Chinese culture and thinking. Its underlying philosophy underpins numerous fields as diverse as Chinese medicine, Feng Shui, martial arts, Chinese painting and music. But it remains mysterious and impenetrable to many people due to its archaic and symbolic language.

This talk provides a brief introduction to the Yijing, its basic structure, methodology and wider cultural influence. Bernard Kwan will also demonstrate how the Yijing can be a tool for accessing your inner intuition for better decision making and as a framework for personal growth.

About Bernard Kwan

Mr. Bernard Kwan is a teacher of Chinese traditional arts and has studied a number of Eastern and Western practices, which include yoga, Qigong, martial arts (Aikido, Tai Chi and Baguazhang) as well as Zen and Taoist meditation for over 25 years. He first came across the Yijing in his early 20s and has continuously engaged with the book throughout his life. He has apprenticed with several teachers in Hong Kong and Taiwan and uses it as a tool for personal development.

He currently offers classes in Qigong, Tai Chi and Baguazhang, tea meditation and also offers private coaching and mentoring services. He holds a degree in Politics Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University, a Wharton MBA and a Master in Buddhist Studies from Hong Kong University.
