Our Members' Connection Night is back! Come and meet fellow members, enjoy shochu tasting, and appreciate exhibition artworks with our specialists.
As a Grade I Heritage Building and a world-class exhibition space, our Chantal Miller Gallery is currently showing Fusion 2, a highly acclaimed sculptural exhibit exploring the dynamics of East and West.
On this special occasion, ASHK is opening it up to our members after hours! In collaboration with Mizunara, ASHK is bringing three different types of Japanese Shochu inspired by three sculptures in the exhibition to our members inside of our Gallery!
Join us for this exclusive opportunity to immerse yourself in the sculptural master pieces after dark and learn about this hidden spirit of Japan from Shochu-Meister, Ms. Yoshie Kakimoto and experienced spirits specialist, Mr. Chandrakant Mohanty.
Whether you are coming by yourself or bringing a friend (guests need to be accompanied by an existing ASHK member), don't miss out on this unique experience to mingle with fellow ASHK members, learn more about Japanese Shochu from our guest speakers and enjoy the discovery of this hidden gem from Japan curated especially for you!
Chandrakant Mohanty is the Founder & Director of Social Unlimited Limited which operates Mizunara: The Library, Kuromaru and Mizunara: The Shop focused around Whisky, Japanese Shochu & Cocktails. Originally a whisky lover, he discovered Shochu during his stint in Japan. Inspired by the impact of cask maturation in whiskies, he along with Yoshie san established The Hachi Shochu range which is a collaboration with multiple distilleries in Japan to create barrel aged shochu targeting the international palate.
Ms Yoshie Kakimoto: Born in Kyoto and brought up in Kagoshima, Japan, Ms Kakimoto is a certified Shochu Meister & Kikisakeshi. Growing up with Shochu around her, her family also happens to be one of the craft producers in Kagoshima. Apart from being the Marketing Director of Social Unlimited Ltd, she is also the Founder and Director of an Experiences and Travel business www.tabitto.co.jp and has been organizing/moderating virtual distillery tours & tastings in Japan for customers located across the globe. She also actively conducts master classes pairings and teaches about Japanese Shochu.
